About Nan Dingle

Nan Dingle has been painting since the mid 1990’s,using oil, acrylic and drawing media. Her style incorporates contemporary and representational landscape and abstracts. Most work is done on heavy duty canvas not framed. She has had several solo exhibitions and many group shows, early on in New Zealand, where she was represented in galleries from Auckland to Wellington and Christchurch etc. She now lives and works in Queensland and her work is seen in Redcliffe galleries, and she enters art competitions each year with good success. Her artwork can be purchased from this website, or arrange a private viewing at her home studio at Villa 511 BallyCara, 37 Sunnyside Road, Scarborough. Please ring (07) 3203 5118.

The winner of many art awards in New Zealand, since 2007 Nan has been selected in fourteen art competitions or awards, won eighteen awards above the level of 'commended', and sold some major works. Her work is in private collections in UK, USA, Canada, Singapore, Denmark, NZ and Australia. She has been one of the Redcliffe City Art Gallery's "Fifteen Artists Exhibition" four times, in 2008, 2011, 2014 and again in 2017. She mounted a major exhibition in 2012 entitled "Queensland Out Back" (with husband Barry Stone) in the then-new Hub Gallery at the Caboolture Regional Art Gallery. This exhibition was widely viewed and enjoyed in this beautiful space. In 2015 the two showed their new exhibition called "Under Southern Skies" in the newly-refurbished Old Fire Station Gallery of Redcliffe Art Society, with 40 works: landscapes from all over NZ and Australia.Nan frequently wins her sections in Redcliffe Art Society's Exhibition of Excellence each year she enters. She mainly exhibits now in their gallery in Redcliffe.

Nan enjoys rendering landforms, originally the wonderful youthful shapes of New Zealand, and recently the very different ancient face of Australia. Her landscape often escapes into semi-abstract, with the patterning and lines, the forms and voids of the natural world.. Nan is Queensland-born, but began serious painting in NZ after 1995, living in Auckland with Barry Stone, and the pair has travelled widely in both their countries. Nan came out of university study, qualifications and career paths in teaching, geography, book illustration and ceramics, all of which contributing to her sense of shape, tecture, line and colour. In art she is self-taught, and a great gallery-trawler wherever she goes.

Her career is summed up : some 1150 paintings finished over 22 years, around half of these sold, over 100 were gifted to charity, hospices and nursing homes, 38 awards achieved in total, and she has been shown in around 26 galleries over those years in two countries.
