Nan Dingle cont...

NAN DINGLE is Queensland-born and began serious painting while living in Auckland from 1995 to 2006 with husband Barry. Her university qualifications were in arts/geography, followed by time spent as a studio potter and teacher, and this background, along with the love of form, colour and texture have found expression in landscape painting. Nan also had a ten-year career in English as a Second Language teaching, and has written and illustrated books for educational use.

Nan is largely self-taught, and has travelled widely throughout Australia and New Zealand - slowly, so as to be 'on site' at all times of day. In her landscape painting, she tries to portray the 'feel' of a place, based on her experience of it, rather than just a postcard view. She takes great delight now that she has resettled in QLD, in capturing the essence of those things that differentiate Australian from New Zealand landscapes and flora. Her explorations in the abstract are grounded in knowledge gained from nature. The colours, forms, textures reflect the natural world and abstractions become at times borderline-landscapes.

Nan exhibited in galleries from Auckland and Wellington to Napier, Christchurch and Dunedin until 2006. Her work is now exhibited in Brisbane galleries and on the Redcliffe peninsula.
